A Storied Career at Marriott International

Satya Anand’s journey with Marriott International began in 1988 when he started as a Night Auditor at the Vienna Marriott Hotel. Over the years, he steadily climbed the ranks and took on key leadership roles in various operational and strategic capacities. His extensive experience spans areas such as operations, finance and design. Anand has previously served as the Cluster General Manager for Renaissance Hotels in Vienna, Area Vice President for Western & Central Europe and Chief Financial Officer for Europe. He also held the role of Chief Operations Officer for Luxury & Southern Europe and Global Design EMEA.

Since 2020, Anand has held the position of President of EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Afrika), where he led Marriott’s digital transformation efforts and spearheaded sustainability initiatives. Under his leadership, the EMEA region saw remarkable growth, expanding Marriott’s portfolio to over 1,300 properties. His strategic leadership has resulted in record-breaking expansion, enhanced owner relationships and a significant improvement in guest experiences across Marriott’s diverse markets.

In his new role, Satya Anand will be responsible for overseeing Marriott International’s operations across the U.S., Canada and the Caribbean & Latin America. His appointment is a strategic move to unite these important regions under a single leadership structure. Originally from India, Anand has a strong academic foundation, holding a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from MES College of Commerce in Bangalore and a diploma in Hotel & Tourism Management from the Institute of Tourism & Hotel Management in Austria. His international experience across several key markets enables him to bring a global perspective to his role, while his deep understanding of the nuances of local markets allows him to tailor Marriott’s strategies to suit regional needs.

Anand’s leadership in the EMEA region has earned him a reputation as a forward-thinking, results-driven executive who is always looking to the future. His commitment to sustainability, digital transformation and guest satisfaction will continue to be integral to Marriott’s mission as he now turns his focus to the Americas. His relocation to the United States will see him working out of Marriott’s global headquarters in Bethesda, Maryland, where he will oversee operations across Marriott’s significant portfolio in the U.S., Canada and the Caribbean & Latin America.
